NPC Commences Trial Census

Chairman of the National Population Commission Alhaji Nasiru Kwarra has reiterated commitment of the Commission towards conducting acceptable census next year as it commenced trial census.

Alhaji Nasiru Kwarra made the commitment during the launch of Census Night in Mararaba, Karu Localo Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Chairman of the National Population Commission NPC, Alhaji Nasiru Kwarra represented by the Commission’s chairman Census Committee and Federal Commissioner in charge of Rivers State Doctor Ipalibo Harry, said the activities leadingo to commencement of the trial Census were successful and commendable.

Alhaji Nasiru Kwarra noted that, the census night is all about kick starting the trial Census with people living in special areas as their home and people of Nigeria

Federal Commissioner in charge of Nasarawa Started at their commission, Mr Silas Ali Agara and his counterpart from Adamawa state Doctor Clifford Zirra who is also the Information and Technology ICT described the choice of Nasarawa State to represent North Central for the trial Census as apt, saying the technology on hand for the exercise will give the needed result especially with the personnel trained to man the machines to achieve the target.

On their parts chairman of Karu Local Government Council Mr James Thomas expressed commitment of the council and Karu traditional institution towards a successful trial Census, while Security representatives reaffirmed their resolve to protect lives and property.

Meanwhile, traditional rulers and opinion leaders in Karu Local Government Area have been advised to mobilize their people to support adhoc staff on field for the trial census to be successful in the exercise.

Head of Public Affairs Unit of the National Population Commission in the state Suleiman Usman gave the advice during a walking enlightenment campaign to communities within Karu.

Suleiman Usman said stakeholders in Karu have roles to play, hence the walking enlightenment to seek their support.

The National Population Commission’s state image maker lauded efforts of the
Federal Commissioner Silas Ali Agara for working round the clock towards ensuring successful trial census.

He disabused their minds not to perceive the trial census as strategy to increase tax but a preparation to the head count proper.
