Ahmed emerged winner of the election with eighty five votes after defeating his closest rival, Dare Akogun of Sobi FM Chapel who garnered seventy two votes
Babajide Fadeyi of Federal Information Chapel polled thirty-one votes while the incumbent, Umar Abdul-Wahab got sixteen votes
Binta Abubakar-Mora of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Radio Nigeria, Harmony FM Chapel, scored one hundred and thirty-one votes beating Mustafa Abubakar of University of Ilorin FM with Seventy-four votes
Also,the incumbent Secretary, Tayo Ayanda of Herald NewsPapers polled one hundred and twenty four votes to defeat his challenger, Babatunde Jimba of Kwara State Television Authority who with seventy-eight votes
Similarly, Olayinka Alaya of Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation Radio Kwara, Ilorin returned as Assistant Secretary with One hundred and thirty votes against Sanni Zakariyyah of Information Division, Kwara Ministry of Communications who polled seventy votes
Meanwhile, the Treasurer Mansurah Amuda-Kannike, of State Information Chapel, Financial Secretary, Raliah Ibrahim of Nigeria Television Authority NTA Chapel and the Auditor, Mashood Sarumi of Herald Chapel were elected unopposed
Announcing the results of the State Council of NUJ elections, NUJ National President, Chris Iziguzo represented by the National Vice President North-Central Zone D, Mr Wison Bako described the election as generally peaceful
Chief Iziguzo charged the new executive to work as a team to herald the union to greatness
In his Acceptance Speech, newly elected State Council Chairman, Abdul-lateef Ahmed assured members of the union of inclusiveness and improved welfare.
