Nigerian youths have been advised to explore various stages in fish production to reduce unemployment in the country.

A fish farmer, Mr Joseph Babayomi gave the advice in an exclusive interview with Correspondent Lanre Omotoso in Ganmo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Mr Babayomi who identified fish farming as lucrative business listed various stages which youth could venture into to include pond construction, hatchery, rearing of table size fishes, production of parent stock and fish smoking.

While noting that fish production is capital intensive, the fish farmer stressed that youth could engage in any of the stages to be self independent financially instead of looking for white collar job.

Mr Babayomi who left teaching for fish farming, highlighted challenges of the business to include finance, irregular water supply, expensive feeds and epileptic power supply.

The fish farmer called on government to make available low interest loan to farmers to grow their businesses and guide against such loans getting to wrong hands.
