ASUU ready to suspend Strike- Ngige

The Academic Staff Union of Universities will call of its eight-month strike which has halted academic activities in the public universities.

Report says the union leadership has reached the consensus during a meeting with the government team led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, in Abuja, on Friday.

According to the report, government also pledged to increase the total payment to the union to N70 billion.

Briefing journalists after the eight-hour meeting, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, said the dialogue was fruitful.

ASUU’s president, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi agreed with the Minister’s remarks.

Ngige said the government has made a proposal which ASUU will take back to their executives.
