For International Relations expert, my title may appear extreme especially those that are intimated with the US-Iranian crisis. Nonetheless, I flipped through my cognitive database and could not find a better term to apply in relations to the recent happening within APC in the state. It is nothing than a “hybrid warfare” tactics.

Hybrid warfare is a military strategy that recruits political warfare with a blend irregular warfare, cyber ware and conventional warfare. Interestingly, part of the additional ingredients that serve as an aid to this strategy includes fake news (propaganda), diplomacy, lawfare and foreign electoral intervention. This is mainly a tactic used to avoid “attribution” or “retribution.”

That is the reason you can see politicians in our state together even after playing deadly political game(s) with one another, despite laying siege, ambush and applying the encirclement tactics for one another.

The Governor is still equipped with “traditional military mentality” while BOB’s camp has long acquainted themselves with the tactics of” hybrid warfare”. This must be the reason why BOB is beating the governor successively in the contest for party structure. Many people that are spinning the narrative that the governor displayed the doctrine of “obligations to truth above loyalty to an entity” failed to mention that, usually, either the governor or his people always throw the first punch.

Politicians only speak on two occasions; (1) when something is favouring them (2) when something is not favouring them. As time goes on, when the marriage becomes unbearable, each side will speak and scream with their loudest voice.

Both sides must be a fan of Robert Greene who continuously displays the tactics and rules in two of his books titled “48 Laws of Power” and “33 Strategies of War”.

The defensive warfare approach by BOB camp is commendable, they know their limits, where their energy lies, they utilize their skills. They’ve considered the hidden cost of war, political goodwill that has been squandered and aware of an embittered enemy. That is why they wait, undermine their enemy covertly rather than hitting him straight on.

However, the offensive tactics of the AA camp have not stated clearly their goal, whether it is to secure a second term ticket or removal of BOB, they need to separate this first, only then can the “small victories” by the BOB camp being seen as insignificant in anticipation of the governor’s “laugh last”.

In this game of chess, the governor and his “frenemies” has used both white and black sides of the chessboard to play their game(s) without any clear victory from both sides. The governor remains powerful within his government and the party chairman remains powerful within the party structure. In another game, soon to be seen with a larger stage as APC convention draws nearer, review of the party constitution and the election of new leaders on board will set the stage for the grand chess contest in the state.

It will be a “Fishing-pole trick” where whoever uses the “white pieces” loses by getting greedy, and a “Halosar trick” where whoever uses “black pieces” loses by being defrauded of tactics and focusing on catching the queen than winning the game. Either way, both sides will need a strong defence mechanism beyond castling, as without proper knowledge is a great disadvantage.

Whatever happens, it will be a “beautiful checkmate” by either side that will warrant a thunderous applaud from audience and ovation.

In one of the pieces, published on May 28; six months ago by Fidelinfo titled “Bolarinwa, Kwara APC and their Psychology of Revolution”, I mentioned that Bolarinwa (Corbulo) was confined to Syria by Poetus (AA) after the battle of Armenia. It appears that confinement was a bad choice after all – as Corbulo waxed stronger in Syria (Party). This validates one of the important rules of politics that says “when you are not strong, gain somebody strong”. It appears Corbulo gained strong people to become strong.

While we continue to watch in awe the Messi and Ronaldo-like games and comparison in the state, as an audience, let us keep the stats and head-to-head record intact as always.
