FEDPOFFA Inaugurates Polytechnic BookShop, As Olofa Calls For Appointment Of Substantive Rector

Establishment of more learning infrastructure to cater for the growing population of students has been identified as one of the ways of providing quality education and solving challenges confronting educational system in the country.

The Acting Rector, Federal Polytechnic Offa, FEDPOFFA, Dr. Afolabi Olarongbe stated this at the inauguration of the Polytechnic Bookshop at the Mini Campus in Offa.

The Acting Rector who emphasized that improving educational standard cannot be undermined, explained that the building was formerly the Mass Communication studio which has been relocated to the Permanent Site.

He commended the committee chaired by the Deputy Rector Academic, Architect Augustine Ekundayo Adama for their efforts.

While unveiling the the Polytechnic Bookshop, the Chairman, Governing Council, FEDPOFFA, Dr. Usman Bulkani Ahmed said he was overwhelmed with the level of development in the institution and praised the previous and present management for maintaining the campuses.

During an homage visit to the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Oloyede Esuwoye the Second,
the Chairman appreciated the Royal Father for his fatherly role and interventions in the school including donation of 500 33KVA transformer to the institution.

Also, the Acting Rector, FEDPOFFA, said Olofa has been very supportive to the Polytechnic and expressed the school appreciation.

Dr. Olarongbe briefed the traditional ruler that the Chairman has used his wealth of experience and wisdom to direct the management as the council have been an asset to them not a liability.

Responding, His Royal Highness Olofa of Offa, appreciated the Governing Council for the visit and described its Chairman as the best ever seen.

He said that giving out of resources, making the institution and community grow had been his priority since his enthronement about 12 years ago.

Oba Olofa maintained that the Acting Rector has been proactive in addressing issues, citing the recent protest by students in the school who were clamoring for better power supply among other demands and commended the Rector efforts in addressing it.

He urged the Council to help fast track announcement of a substantive Rector for the institution, as this was one of the demands of the students during the protest he mediated to restore peace.

In a vote of thanks, Representative from the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs Dorothy affirmed that a leader like Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi who sacrifice his resources and time to develop government property is very rare and commended the Royal Father for his magnanimity as well as fatherly role he is performing to ensure that there is orderliness and tremendous development in the institution.

Our Correspondent Aminah Salako – Adekunle reports that among the project commissioned by the Governing Council included the Polytechnic Bookshop, Main Store building, Science Laboratory building, Business Administration Department, Food Technology Department Building and Extension of Mass Communication Studio.
