Football pundits across the country have continued to react to the goalless draw of the AFCON revised fixture between supereagles of Nigeria and Sierra leone.

Reacting to the result, A veteran Sports journalist Jide Allen expressed his satisfaction with the outcome saying it is an advantage to Nigeria when considering the situation super eagles found themselves in the group.

Jide Allen noted that though, the super eagles had taken a wrong step in their home match but the goalless draw result has kept the hope of the team’s qualification for the AFCON 2021 alive.

” A goalless draw in Sierra Leone is not a bad result knowing fully well that a draw would keep the team on top of the table and still give them a good chance of qualifying from that group.

Though, they had a wrong step in a game played at home but they needed to manage the situation properly in that particular game.

The veteran sports journalist stated that a situation where Sierra Leone had beaten the Eagles, it would have been a very very tight situation for the Eagles.

“And If you watch the match, the 45 min of the encounter, the Eagles sat back, soak all the pressure because they knew a draw in the game was still better a result.

“We have been in a situation like this before when ordinary draw or a one zero win at home would have just been enough to qualify the super eagles for the major event but the technical crew never pay attention to details they eventually lost the encounter,” he said.

He therefore praised the resilient efforts of the supereagles defenders in curtailing the Sierra leonian strikers throughout the game.
