Gambari District Organizes Security Talks For Residents

Religious and community leaders have been urged to enlighten people on the dangers of engaging in criminalities especially the acts of cultism, drug abuse and kidnapping that have placed the country on red alert in the map of the World.

The appeal was made today by the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdul Rahman Abdul Razaq at a security interactive forum organised by Kwara State Community Policing Interactive, Gambari district, Ilorin, Kwara State.

The Governor who was represented by Special Adviser to the Governor on Strategy, Alhaji Saadudeen Salahudeen traced criminal activities such as cultism and drug abuse among youths to the non-challant attitudes of parents to their responsibilities in upbringing their wards with sound moral education.

Alhaji Salahudeen said the governor has invested a huge amount of money to the security architecture of the state, also called on both religious and community leaders to compliment the efforts of Kwara State Government in curbing thuggery and all criminal activities in their domain, just as he called on all traditional rulers and elders in the Emirate as the state as a whole to emulate such security programme under the Balogun Gambari of Ilorin as always being encouraged by the Emir of Ilorin Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim- Sulu Gambari.

In his remark, the Chairman Community Policing Interactive, Gambari district, Ilorin, Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi Jubril said the aim of the program was to compliment the efforts of government in the fight against crimes and to be a talking forum with the people of the community on how to make the society free of all acts which can cause chaos in the society.

Alhaji Abdullahi commended the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State Mr Tuesday Asamouyo, NDLA, NSCDC and other agencies for supporting the group.

He aso called on government at all levels to support them with logistics needed for the success in their security assignments.

On his part, the National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants progressive Union( IEDPU), Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman emphasized the need for parents to monitor the movement of their children and those whom they are associating with for them to succeed in making them useful members of the society and to contribute for the growth and development of their various communities.

Alhaji Otta who is a security expert, emphasized that security is everybody’s business, hence all hands should be on deck to maintain peaceful co-existence in all communities as Kwara State and Ilorin Emirate in particular is well known with.

The security interactive forum which was held at Balogun Gambari’ ” Fada” featured interactive sessions between the security personnels such as representatives of Nigerian Police, NSCDC, DSS and people of the community.

Balogun Agba of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Aliyu Adebayo, Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin Dr. Uthman Abubakar Akanbi Jos, the Muffasir Agba Shaikh Uthman Sannu Sheu were in attendance.

The Imam Gambari of Ilorin Alhaji Sulaiman Abdul Azeez led prayer for peace in the state.
