Hijab Crisis: IEDPU Appeals To Kwarans, Calls For Tolerance

The National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union IEDPU,  Alhaji Uthman Otta “fsi” has advised people of Kwara State to tolerate one another and live harmoniously for the progress of the State.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the Union,  Alhaji Nurudeen Ibrahim,  Alhaji Uthman Otta said Kwara State is being regarded as the most peaceful State in the Federation as such people should maintain the status quo.

Alhaji Uthman Otta explained that depite the disparity of religion,  differences in Culture and Languages, the people of the State still accommodate themselves and promote peaceful coexistence across every Community in the State.

“The people are always peaceful Until recent time when dispute occurred among the people base on the issue of Hijab controversy in the State owned Christian Schools and the case was promptly handled and cushioned by the State government by allowing Muslim  female Students who wish to wear hijab in any Government School to do so as part of their fundamental human right as enshrine in the Constitution and to douse unnecessary tension which may lead to controversy”

He expressed his dismay over the clash between the people of Ijagbo community in Oyun Local Government Area of the State.

The IEDPU National President explained further that the issue of religion should not cause calamity among the people because God that created them and made some people Muslims and some Christians in at the same geopolitical location has reasons for doing so.

Alhaji Uthman Otta appealed to the people of Ijagbo and the entire people of Kwara State to  embrace and allow peace to reign for the  progress of the Society, saying that they should not allow themselves to be used by evil spirits individuals to create meham in the State.

He implored them not to destroy the mutual love and togetherness among the Children who will be leaders of tomorrow.

He also appealed to parents and the Children to shun all acts of criminalities and hooliganism in their different domain in the name of religion, tribal or political differences.

The Statement however commends the State government for its prompt action in restoring peace to Ijagbo and its environs.
