Concerned Youth of Ijero-Ekiti this morning staged a peaceful protest, carried placards and prevented vehicular movement demanding for Municipal local government for Ijero Ekiti.
Speaking with correspondent Lanre Omotoso, Secretary General of Ijero, Dr Niyi Babade said they were dissatisfied with creation of area office for Ijero Local Government in Ikoro-Ekiti.
Dr Babade said Ijero Local Government was among the oldest in Ekiti and old Ondo State without any divided administrative center at any other town.
In a remark, Ajero of Ijero Kingdom, Oba Joseph Adewole said Ijero merited Two LCDAs due to its significance history, geographical size and population.
Oba Adewole emphasized that they have written letters to Governor Kayode Fayemi and appropriate quarters for creation of Ijero South and North LCDAs, because present Ijero has Six wards, whereas most of the newly created LCDAs has less than Three wards.
