Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, today paraded three suspects before newsmen for various offenses.

Addressing newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Ilorin, spokesman of the corps, Mr Olasunkanmi Ayeni, said two of the three culprits were arrested at Agbede in Moro Local Government Area of the State for illegal possession of weapons.

Mr Ayeni said the third suspect, Ifeanyichukwu was arrested by officers on patrol at Taiwo Road, Ilorin for stealing an electric pumping machine with an accomplice still at large.

He explained that 19 year old, Abdullahi Alhaji Abubakar from Zaria in Kaduna state, was arrested in possession of a locally made pistol and a machete, leading to the arrest of 39 year old John Nyikya, from Benue state who allegedly sold him the pistol.

In their confessional statement, John Nyikya, arrested in possession of a locally fabricated rifle and dagger, said he was a guard at a mining site, but had to sell one of his guns to attend to medical needs.

On his part, Abdullahi Abubakar, who claimed to be a nomadic farmer, said he bought the firearm for seven thousand Naira to secure his farm and animals.

The Kwara NSCDC Command, therefore, called on citizens to always be vigilant in view of the security situation in the country and to always furnish security agencies with useful information.

According to the Kwara State Command of the Civil Defense, the three suspects will be charged to court after due investigation.
