KWHA Extends Tenure Of Auditor-General, Cautions Against Destruction Of Public Facilities

Kwara State House of Assembly has extended the tenure of the Acting Auditor General of the State, Fatai Tiamiyu for a period of six months.

The tenure extension was sequel to a Message from the Governor titled ”
Legislative Approval for a Six Month Tenure Extension of Acting Auditor General of the State” addressed to the Speaker Engineer Yakubu Danladi-Salihu which was read during plenary.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq noted that the tenure of Acting Auditor General elapsed on the 28th of last month as the case of appointing substantive Auditor General is still in court.

The governor explained that the tenure extension became imperative as the Acting Auditor General is in the process of auditing financial statement of the state which he is expected to complete.

Engineer Danladi-Salihu therefore directed Clerk of the House to communicate the notice of the six months tenure extension of the state Acting Auditor General to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

In another development, residents of Kwara state have been cautioned against destruction of public utilities

This was part of the resolutions of the House after considering Motion on Notice tilted” Need For Kwarans to imbibe the Culture of Protecting Public Utilities Within and Outside their Domains.

Moving the motion, the member representing Afon Constituency, Abdulwahab Opakunle Opakunle observed that such public utilities and amenities are financed by the government using tax payers money accruing from monthly allocations from Federation Account, Internally Generated Revenue, loans, grants and other sources.

Other lawmakers in their contributions expressed displeasure that some neighborhoods who are beneficiaries of these facilities are using them for different purposes and urged the public to desist from such acts.

In a resolution, the Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danladi-Salihu called Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to direct Ministry of Communications to embark on sensitization on the need for attitudinal change on public facilities put in place to serve the people.

Also during today’s plenary, Lawmaker representing Okuta-Yashikira Constituency, drew the attention of the House to the collapsed Chikanda-Miki bridge which is between Nigeria and Republic of Benin for urgent government intervention.
