Late Prof. Funsho-Akorede: Clerics Exalt Glorious Exit, Pray For His Repose

The Chief Imam of Ahbabudeen Islamic Society of Nigeria, Imam Ali Imam gave this admonition while presiding over the third day prayer for repose of the soul of Professor Mudathir Funsho-Akorede held at his residence in Ilorin.

Imam Ali who noted that the demise of Professor Funsho-Akorede came as a shock to everyone, said that his family and loved ones should take solace that he lived a righteous and fulfilled life.

In a brief sermon, the Imam of Biada Community Mosque, Upper Gaa Akanbi Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Gobiri described the deceased as a devoted Muslim who was generous to everyone.

In a remark, Dr Sheriffdeen Yusuf of Kogi State University, reminded the congregation that death is inevitable and will always come when it is least expected.

Dr Yusuf prayed Allah to grant the deceased Aljanat firdaus and give his family fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The Fidau prayer had in attendance people from all walks of life, including high powered delegation from the University of Ilorin, Ahbabudeen Islamic Society of Nigeria, Kwara State branch, friends, families and other sympathizers.

Professor Mudathir Funsho-Akorede who died last Friday at the age of Fifty-Two and buried according to Islamic injunction was until his death the Head, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, University of Ilorin.

He is survived by his wife, children and other relatives including a retired Permanent Secretary in Kwara State Civil Service, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Opeloyeru.
