NCAM Urges Youth to Embrace Mechanization For Food Sufficiency

Nigerian youths have been urged to utilize Federal Government’s mechanization efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in food production for the country.

Executive Director, National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization, NCAM, Dr. Muideen Kasali, gave the advice at a capacity building for tractor operators and training for youth and women on integrated farming in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Dr Kasali said because of ageing population of farmers due to usage of cutlasses and hoes as they were unable to produce much foods, hence the need for Nigerian youth to adopt mechanization for mass production of food.

Dr Kasali explained that Federal Government established NCAM to fabricate indegenous farm machineries and train manpower on the usage for Nigeria to increase food export and attain industrialization.

Similarly, Director of Planning at NCAM, Dr. Julius Omisore, during the overview at the opening ceremony, urged the participants to be attentive during the training.

Represented by Engineer Tope Faleye, Dr Omisore stressed that if they utilise the acquired training on tractor operation and integrated farming they would become job creators rather than Job seekers.

Both Dr Kasali and Dr Omisore advised both participants on tractor operations and Integrated farming to be careful during the training to avoid mechanical casualties.
