The Umbrella body of Tsaragi people both home and in diaspora has expressed sadness over the demise of Walin Tsaragi, Dr. Muhammed Ndakogi Haruna.

Dr. Haruna who exited this world, Wednesday 10th 2021 was until his death the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tsaragi Emirate Development
Association which consists of Tsaragi town and its 127 villages.

Dr. Haruna would be affectionately remembered for his sternly contributions towards the well being of Tsaragi community and its people.

It would be recalled that the late Wali fought tooth and nail to facilitate scholarship for the indigenes of the community. He is a credit reference for this record as far back as 1970s, long before he was appointed commissioner for works in 1985 and that of commerce and cooperative in 1993.

Dr. Haruna’s immense contributions to peace building particularly in Tsaragi-Share communities is second to non. The unicity of his commitment to peaceful coexistence materialized in his struggle for the expansion of Tsaragi water works to accommodate its Share neighbours.

A reservoir when it comes to Nupe history, Dr. Haruna has been a very strong voice for the enthronement of Tsaragi and Nupe’s Identity.

He is a leading light and encourager of the youths, having rose from relative obscurity and decent beginning to stardom via share hardwork and resilience.

In the ongoing advocacy for power shift to Kwara North, considering the long time marginalization of the area, his voice appears the loudest.

At the inaugural meeting of Coalition of Kwara North Leaders held in Ilorin, the state capital, his message detailed, loud and clear when he bade farewell saying “some of us may not be beneficiaries of this struggle for the emergence of a Kwara Northerner as Governor in 2023, but definitely it is a journey that must be accomplished.” This ethos and many others shall continue to echo endlessly in our minds.

A grassroots teacher and educator, Dr. Haruna is the founder of Markazul Rahmatullahi Litahafizil Quran, Tanke Ilorin, Kwara State, a citadel known for Qur’an Memorization.

A graduate of veterinary medicine from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, he began his education at the Native Authority School, Share and later proceeded to the then Ilorin Provisional Secondary School now GSS Ilorin.

Aside serving as commissioner in two different cabinets, and pioneer Director of the Directorate for Foods, Roads and Rural Infrastructure (DFRI) owing to his forthrightness and Rural development consciousness, he was Director Airforce at the Federal ministry of Defence, Director of Parastatals at the Presidency, Office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation where he retired from civil service in 2013, amongst his too numerous qualities as a distinctive public servant, Dr Haruna was also a great grassroot mobiliser and touch bearer particularly in Kwara North.

Indeed, Tsaragi Emirate Development Association, EDUPA, Kwara North and Nupe Land in General have certainly lost a quintessential public servant that takes pleasure and pride in serving the people without minding their tribe, race, religion nor region.

May Almighty Allah grant you Aljanatu Firdaos and give your beloved immediate family and us all the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable demise.

Signed
