As flood continues to ravage some parts of the country, governments at various levels have been urged to construct more dams to harvest rain waters.
President, Soil Science Society of Nigeria, Professor Bashir Raji made the call in an exclusive interview with Lanre Omotoso.
Professor Raji said construction of more dams across the country would stop negative effects of flood on the populace, noting that such conserved water would be useful for irrigation during dry season farming, domestic and industrial uses.
The President, Soil Science Society of Nigeria noted that flooding could also be prevented through planting of more trees and grasses.
Professor Raji advised government on proper land use planning that would demarcate residential areas from farming areas to guide against clash of interest.
