Fuel Scarcity: Kwara Assembly Urges State Government To Set-up Special Task Force

The Kwara State House of Assembly has implored the state government to set-up a task force that would address the current petroleum scarcity in the state.

This was sequel to a matter of general public importance, “On need to address fuel scarcity”, raised by the member representing Ilorin North-West Constituency, Babatunde Ayi Olatundun during plenary.

Olatundun said the artificial scarcity of Petroleum is affecting Nigerians, including people of Kwara State and called on government to urgently find a lasting solution to it.

She noted that the development had contributed to the hardship of Nigerians and affected the economy of the state and the country.

Other lawmakers, in their contributions, expressed concern over the non availability of the product with major marketers.

They also urged both the state government and the House Committee on Commerce and Human Resources to have first hand information on the number of liters of premium motor spirit, popularly called PMS allocated to the state and identify those filling stations that hoard the products.

In his resolution, the Speaker of the House, Engineer Yakubu Danladi-Salihu directed the House Committee on Commerce and Human Resources to liase with the executive arm in the state in addressing the artificial scarcity of petrol in Kwara State.
