Having FEDCOED in Kwara Central is Possible- Oloriegbe

The representative of Kwara Central Senatorial District at the Nigerian Senate, Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has assured the people of his constituency that the hope of having a Federal College of Education sited in the district is much alive.

Oloriegbe who gave the assurance yesterday while speaking at the 55th National Conference of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union expressed that he is working in synergy with other members of the community at the position of authority to see the dream becoming a reality.

Reacting to the request of the Union’s president, Alh. Aliyu Otta Uthman on the need for the institution, the lawmaker said he has since two months of his assumption of office sponsored a bill that seeks the establishment of the institution and, that, he is still lobbying unremittingly and working harmoniously with the executive to ensure its timely implementation.

Speaking further, ”I have also sponsored a bill for the establishment of the first psychiatric hospital in the whole of North Central to be situated in Asa Local Government Area. And, His Excellency, the executive Governor has taken necessary steps required from the State. We have secured the assurance of the Honourable Minister of Health. Unfortunately, the delay in its implementation was occasioned by the pandemic. However, it has now been earmarked for implementation in the first quarter of 2021.”

The Senator who was one time the National Treasurer of the Union which is the apex body of all socio-cultural group in the Ilorin Emirate also donated the sum of Ten Million Naira on behalf of himself and friends towards the construction of the proposed ICT/Skill Acquisition Hub, a project which he described as a right step towards reducing unemployment rate amongst the youths in the community.
