Kwara Assembly Tasks Gov. Abdulrazaq To Establish Special Commodity Market Across The State

Kwara State House of Assembly wants Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to work out modalities towards establishing modern markets for transaction of specific goods or items in different parts of the state.

This was part of the resolutions of the House after considering a Motion on Notice titled” Need to Establish More Modern Markets Designated For Specific Goods and Services to Restore Sanity in Existing Markets in Kwara State” raised by House Leader, Alhaji Abubakar Olawoyin.

Alhaji Olawoyin expressed displeasure that available markets within Ilorin Metropolis such as Oja-Oba,Oja-Tuntun, Mandate Market, Owode market in Offa, Ilesha Baruba Market, Bode Saadu and Ajase-Ipo Kara Markets are already congested with distortion of the original master plan.

Other lawmakers in their contributions stressed the need for other parts of state to benefit from new Master Plan in the establishment of new markets to ensure equity in resources allocation.

Reading the resolutions of the House, Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Salihu urged the State Governor to direct all Local Governments, Ministries to liase with Kwara State Geographic Information System to make establishment of modern markets in different parts of the state a reality.
