Kwara Begins Vaccination Of Intending Pilgrims

The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board today has commenced medical screening and vaccination for three thousand, one hundred and two for this year’s intending pilgrims.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman, Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Professor Mashood Mahmud-Jimba said the screening was designed to ascertain the health status of each pilgrim in fulfillment of the requirements of the Saudi Arabia government.

Professor Mahmud-Jimba said medical officials would screen the pilgrims for malaria, typhoid, Hepatitis B, and pregnancy tests, adding that intending pilgrims would also vaccinate against diseases such as polio, meningitis and Yellow fever.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji AbdulSalam Abdulkadir said the vaccination exercise would be carried out at the premises of the Board beginning at eight o’clock each day and will end next week Tuesday 21/5/2024.

Alhaji Abdulkadi appealed to intending pilgrims to make themselves available for the exercise adding that the screening would help them know their health status to prevent them from sickness before, during and after the Hajj exercise.

According to him, the first batch of three hundred and ten intending pilgrims will be airlifting from Ilorin International Airport, Ilorin on the twentieth of this month.
