Kwara Gov. Reiterates Commitment To Vocational Skills To Reduce Unemployment

Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq says his administration will continue to reduce unemployment in the State through vocational skills.

Governor AbdulRazaq gave the assurance at the Second graduation ceremony of International Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurship College, IVTEC in Ajase-Ipo, Kwara State.

Represented by Commissioner for tertiary institutions, Senior Ibrahim Sulyman, Governor AbdulRazaq stressed that his administration had increased subvention to IVTEC towards awarding both National Diploma and Higher National Diploma.

Similarly, Director General, National Directorate of Employment, NDE, Mallam Nuhu Fikpo indicated that in collaboration with Kwara State government is to disabuse minds of youth from crimes such as banditry, kidnapping and internet fraud through vocational and technical skills.

Mallam Fikpo who was represented by Kwara State coordinator of NDE, Mr. Timothy Aba advised the graduating youth to form themselves into cooperatives society to be able to access loans from agencies of government.

In a remark, Chairman, governing council of IVTEC, Alhaji Yekini Bukoye said the college is unique through its One Hundred percent practicals that would make graduates of the college employers of labour rather than job seekers.

While awarding certificates to over Two Hundred graduates in building construction, electrical-electronics, welding-fabrication, multimedia technology, air-conditioner technology and hospitality management, Rector of IVTEC, Dr. Ade Somide emphasized that the college had imparted skills in them to drive poverty out of the country.

Correspondent Lanre Omotoso report that the Second graduation ceremony of IVTEC was witnessed by Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Yahaya Alebiosu, Olusin of Ijara-Isin, Oba Julius Ajibola, the Sixteen Transition Implementation Committee Chairmen in Kwara State, representatives of Unilorin, KWASU, Kwara Polytechnic, College of Education, Oro, Federal Polytechnic, Offa, parents of graduating students among others.
