KWARA NUJ Inaugurates New Sobi FM Chapel Executives

The Kwara State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists [NUJ], has charged journalists in the state to maintain the integrity of the profession in the discharge of their responsibility.

The Chairman of the council Ahmed Lateef gave the charge at the inauguration of the new executive members of Sobi FM Chapel of the union.

The Chairman who expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the gift of life; described Sobi FM chapel as one of the strongest pillars of the NUJ in Kwara State and commended Dare Akogun for his spirit of sportsmanship at the last state council election for being the first to congratulate the new executive.

Lateef, while advising the new executives said, ”you are charged with the responsibility to do everything possible to keep this chapel afloat”.

In his advice the chairman of correspondent chapel of the NUJ in the state Alhaji Hakeem Garuba advised the new chairman to be transparent in his dealings with members of the union.

In his remark the head of News and Current Affairs of Sobi FM Adebayo Abubakar in his remarks, commended Akogun for being a shining a light of the station and urged him to continue uphold the tenets of the journalism profession.

In his acceptance speech, the chairman, Abdullahi Dare Akogun described the task before the new executive as enormous.

Popularly known as Da Radio General, Akogun has been the Sobi FM Chapel Chairman since its inception said for the fact that this mandate was given collectively, it places an enormous tasks and this is a responsibility the excos have accepted whole heartedly.

He appreciated the Supervising Managing Director Alhaji Kayode Mustapha for his support and also thanked the staff of Sobi FM,  for finding him worthy to represent them.

Akogun while promising  to move the chapel to the next level of development and solidifying its status as a major stakeholder in the state council, seek for the total cooperation of the entire members, to achieve the plans.

He equally encouraged members to uphold the tenets,  doctrines and ethics of the profession to maintain its place as the go to station for credible, factual and accurate information especially to the rural dwellers.

“We are not going to take this support for granted. All we need is your prayers,” he pleaded.

“I equally thank the NUJ, Kwara State for their approval and accepting us to run the affairs of the union in our organisation.

He further said that Sobi FM has been a great stakeholder in the state chapter of NUJ and “we believe we will do our best to retain it. We promise to take the SOBI FM NUJ to a greater height, and we promise to abide by the rules guiding the organisation’s in our dealings.

“I have a plan to work together with other chairmen of different chapels in the state for the betterment of the union.

Other executives members include Kayode Adeoti who was elected the vice chairman, Hameedah Oladimeji, Secretary, Maryam Afolabi, Assistant Secretary, Teenuola Abdulkadir  Treasurer, Olayemi Ajanaku Financial Secretary and Festus Omotola Auditor.
