Kwara: Police Parade 28 Criminals For Heinous Offenses

Kwara State Police Command has paraded Twenty-Eight suspects for various offences, ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery and homicide.

Addressing newsmen during the parade of the suspects at the Police Headquarters, Ilorin, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Victor Olaiya said the move underscores wavering commitment of the Police in combating crime in all its forms.

Mr Olaiya said that officers and men of the State Police Command have worked tirelessly to apprehend and investigate suspects involved in various criminal activities.

Those paraded include Umar Usman, Mustapha Muhammed and Abubakar Kogu with the sum of Six point four million naira in their possession as proceeds of ransom taken from the people they kidnapped.

The three suspects who were arrested at Bode-Sadu on the 20th of February during stop and search operation by the Police, confessed to belonging Kidnapping syndicates in Yawuri, Kebbi State and Bida in Niger State.

Also paraded was one Atolagbe Yemi-Oje of Ile-Aro-olola in Aran-Orin for rape and culpable homicide.

A female by name, Mayowa Ajiboye who is now dead was also residing at Aran-Orin had in November last year gave Atolagbe the sum of One thousand six hundred naira to fetch firewood for her but he failed to deliver the firewood.

On that fateful day, the late Mayowa Ajiboye and her daughter went to the bush to get firewood and they came across Atolagbe who unknown to them had a sinister motive.

After fetching some firewood, Atolagbe told the Mayowa to let her daughter take the firewood away so that they can go and get more in the bush.

The deceased daughter went away with the firewood and when they moved a little far away, Atolagbe attacked Mayowa by hitting her with a stick, she became unconscious and he raped her.

He went on to cut her pubic hair, used white handkerchief to clean his sperm and blood on Mayowa’s private part, slaughtered her and set the remains ablaze.

Three armed robbery suspects by name, Abdulkareem Yusuf, Mubaraq Abdulrahman and Taye.
