Kwara State Government Says Efforts Are On To Curtail The Second Wave Of Covid-19

State Commissioner for Health, Dr Raji Razak stated this during an interview with Radio Nigeria, Sodiq Adebara.

Dr Razak said that in view of the present second wave of COVID-19, the state Ministry of Health had scale up its risk communication strategy so that people would be aware and adhere to preventive measures.

The commissioner noted that the ministry had also began contact tracing and sample collection across the sixteen local government areas of the state.

Dr Raji stressed that those with positive results are on admission receiving treatment.

The Kwara state commissioner for Health said that the use of face mask is very germane and advised citizens of the state to always wash their hands with soap and water, avoid crowded areas, and maintain physical distancing all times .

Speaking on efforts by the state Government to improve its healthcare system, he affirmed that about forty primary and secondary Heath care facilities have been renovated to international standard in the last one year.

Dr Razak said that the state had procured eight ambulances, out of which five are intensive care ambulances.

He also affirmed that more health workers are been trained and retrained to improve capacity building and service delivery.

The commissioner added that about eight-three personnel, doctors, nurses, laboratory scientists and pharmacists including consultants that specialized in different fields had been employed in the last one year.
