Nigerians have been admonished to desist from promoting disunity and fanning embers of war, through fake news, hate speeches and other unpatriotic activities.

Mr. Olusegun Adeyemi, the State Director, National Orientation Agency, Kwara emphasized the above as the nation celebrates its 61st year of becoming a free entity from colonial powers.

Adeyemi said “the labours of our heroes past will not be in vain, only if we maintain our freedom, peace and unity as a nation and we do not sacrifice our development on the altar of selfishness, tribalism, ethno-religious crisis, and unpatriotic activities”.

Mr. Adeyemi who congratulated all Nigerians for the celebration, added that Nigeria is undoubtedly blessed with human and abundant natural resources which we must all find legitimate ways to explore and develop, for the good of all.

The NOA Director further emphasized that our strength as a nation lies in our diversity and unity, and the federal Government remains committed to defending our togetherness through the ‘Change’ agenda, which begins with individuals.

Mr Adeyemi therefore urged religious/traditional and political leaders, and indeed every Nigerian to reflect on the pains and gains of our nationhood and do all within their power to promote our oneness so we can all enjoy the fruits of independence.

He posited that better days are ahead, hence, Nigerians should keep hope alive.
