Nigerians charged on integrated farming to reduce unemployment: NCAM ED

Nigerians have been advised to embrace integrated farming to reduce unemployment and maximize income of Farmers in the country.

Executive Director, National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization, NCAM, Dr Muideen Kasali gave the advice at opening workshop for participants on strategic empowerment in integrated farming in collaboration with the National Assembly, held in
Idofian, Kwara State.

Represented by Engineer AbdulGafar Kamal, Dr Kasali identified integrated farming as incorporating agricultural activities such as poultry, fishery, cattle rearing with crop farming to maximize profit.

Dr Kasali explained that integrated farming bring about cleanliness of environment as residual from crops would be used to feed animals as well as fish waste water would be used to wet vegetables that would serve as organic fertilizer.

Similarly, another Director in the center, Dr Julius Omisore said NCAM was setup to reduce drudgery through manufacturing of mechanized equipment, urged the participants across the country to avail themselves opportunities at the center to establish their own integrated farming.

Dr Omisore encouraged the participants to use the workshop to gather enough agricultural knowledge, to enable them train others in their communities where integrated farm settlement could be established.
