Northern Governors Responsible For Almajiri Influx – Ganduje

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has attributed the nonchalant attitude of some Northern State Governors as the dominant reason behind influx of Almajiri in Kano state.

The Governor stated this during an interactive session with journalists in Commemoration of democracy day at the Government House, Kano.

He said his administration had taken steps on how to curtail the Challenge of Almajiri Children in the State.

Ganduje noted that the Northern Governors met on several occasions and discussed measures needed be taken in addressing the issue of Almajiri Children which includes making a legislation on the matter.

” Unfortunately most of the Northern Governor’s have not enacted any legislation on the Almajiri issue, which is Actually causing a lot of set back in actualizing our Dreams of addressing the Challenge”

He explained that Kano state being the commercial nerve center of the country experiences Influx of Almajiri Children from northern States and even neighboring countries on daily basis.

The Governor Applauded the foresight of President Muhammadu Buhari for making June 12, Democracy Day.

” In his wisdom President Muhammadu, inorder to create an atmosphere of forgiveness and Harmony across the nation decided to give late MKO Abiola a post humous award, and also declared June 12 as democracy day, I think this is a great step forward in promoting peace and Stability in the country”

Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje added that his Administration had in the last six years performed well in the Health and Education sectors, infrastructure as well as ensuring security of lives and property of the residents.
