Research conducted by a team of journalist sponsored by UNICEF at Kankara local government Area of Katsina state has revealed that the GEP3 intervention provided by the UNICEF in the local government has played a significant role in the increase of enrollment of the girl-child.
Several reasons and obstacles were seen as some of the major reasons that hinder the girl’s child from achieving their dreams of being educated in Kankara local government area of Katsina state.
Some of the reasons according to research were insecurity, poverty, and fear of being molested either on the way to school or when coming back due to distance in areas in the Kankara local government.
According to some of the pupils, and teachers interviewed the GEP3 project has acquainted the pupils, community, and their teacher’s with techniques of taking care of themselves security-wise, and how to ensure that the girl-child enrolls in primary education.
Another milestone that helps the Girl-Child Education in Kankara local government is the mothers Association because most out of school girls were being integrated back to school by mothers association.
According our investigation conditional cash transfer has played a significant role in the enrollment of the girl-Child into primary schools .
Indeed , Unicef intervention has changed the narratives of encouraging the Girl-Child into primary Schools in northern Nigeria.
