The new National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, has expressed his gratitude to Allah (SWT), the entire members of the Union and the people of Ilorin Emirate over the successful conduct of the recently concluded 58th national conference of the Union.
In a statement signed by the Chief Scribe of the Union, Abubakar Imam, Alhaji AbdulMalik said that the people of Ilorin Emirate and particularly members of the Union have again demonstrated that “we are a people of faith”.
Speaking on the election, which brought him to office, Alhaji AbdulMalik, who is a retired Assistant Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, described all those who contested for one position or the other at the conference as brothers who meant well for the Union and Ilorin Emirate as he declared that all the candidates and delegates to the conference are winners.
He particularly appreciated the patriotism, service delivery and humility of his opponent and uncle, by Ilorin standard, at the election and a former Ag. Rector of the Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna, Alhaji A.A.S.Aliyu.
The new IEDPU President described the former Rector as a beloved model and benevolent senior compatriot who he would continue to respect and consult. .
Alhaji Abdulmalik, who specifically thanked his immediate predecessor, Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman,fsi, and members of his team for their contributions towards the development of the Union and Ilorin Emirate at large, assured that his leadership would promote unity and cooperation among members of the Union and serve the people of the community with absolute dedication and undiluted loyalty.
He also assured stakeholders that everybody would be brought on board towards ensuring that the Union achieved its essence.
The new IEDPU President,who is also a former President of Ilorin Students Union, thanked the Governor of Kwara State,Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON and the Emir of Ilorin,Alhaji Dr Ibrahiim Sulu-Gambari,CFR, as well as all former Presidents and other leaders and elders of the Union/community at home and in diaspora for their prayers and support to the Union over the years as he said that their counsels would continue to be valued.
Alhaji Abdulmalik,who also thanked delegates from various branches of the Union to the conference for the sacrifices they made despite the current inclement economic situations, wished them safe journey back to their respective destinations.
