Recall that the foundation laying of Imam Gambari Mosque was performed by the Emir of Ilorin Mai Marrtaba Serikin Ilori Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Zulu Gambari CFR sometime in June, 2018 and central committee was constituted to ensure the realisation of the project and the reconstruction began in earnest.
It is also recalled that some indigenes of Ilorin Emirate had at one time contributed immensely towards the reconstruction of the ancient mosque.
However, due to some logistic issues, the mosque remained moribund and could not witness progress as expected by the populace for years and this necessitated the intervention of the philanthropist and social entrepreneur per excellence, the madawaki of Ilorin Emirate, the Waziri kasa Hausawa, the “Alaanu Makunnu” as widely called and the YPP Governorship candidate, Alhaji Yakub Olayiwola Gobir who because of his love for community service and progress of Ilorin Emirate single handedly shouldered the completion of the mosque.
In fact, few weeks ago, the mosque has worn a new tremendous fabrics depicting a modern edifice that will stand the test of time as envisaged and prayed for by Emir of Ilorin while laying the foundation of the mosque.
The work is now in progress as workers are on site daily, we pray to witness its completion and salute the doggedness of the YPP flag bearer.
