2,800 Women have benefited from Federal Government’s Grant Project for Rural Women.

Each woman got N20,000.

Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster management and Social Development Mrs Sadiya Umar Farouq who flagged off the distribution of the Cash in Gusau said, the gesture was part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s determination to reduce poverty to the barest minimum, saying the grant for Rural Women programme was introduced to sustain the social inclusion agenda of the present administration, including the realization of the National aspiration of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty on 10 years.

Mrs Sadiya revealed that, the programme was designed to provide One-off grant to some poorest and most vulnerable women in rural Nigeria, in which the grant of N20,000 will be disbursed to over 150,000 poor rural women across the 36 states of the Federation and Federal Capital Territory.

According to the minister, the grant is expected to increase access to financial capital required for economic activities, she therefore urged the beneficiaries of the programme to make good use of the opportunity to increase their income, enhance their food security and improve their living standard.

She disclosed that, president Muhammad Buhari has directed all ministers to go back to their respective states and meet with their people, listen to their complaints and proffer solutions
