The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reacted to a viral online report that its official website has been hacked by Anonymous, a notorious online network known for attacking government websites.
A statement by the CBN’s acting director of corporate affairs, Osita Nwanisobi, on Saturday, denied the claim, stating that the apex bank’s website is still intact and secured.
The statement partly says “we also wish to advise the online community to desist from peddling fake news aimed at undermining the integrity of the CBN, which is our collective asset.”
The CBN described the claim as false and assured Nigerians that there is no cause for alarm.
