Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has charged Nigerians to remain united despite the challenges of Insecurity in the country so as to overcome it.
The Governor who made the call in an interview after observing the Eid prayer at the Lokoja township stadium charged citizens to preach peace and unity and desist from tolerating criminals.
Alhaji Bello cautioned Youths to not succumb to Calls of violence by unpatriotic individuals who could have benefitted immensely from the country.
He appreciated the military and paramilitary agencies for their efforts in maintaining the territorial integrity of the country and charging them to continue to deal decisively with criminal elements bent on disintegrating Nigeria.
The governor implored politicians and other political, traditional and religious leaders to come together and desist from statements and actions that polarize citizens against themselves.
Earlier, in a sermon after leading the 2 rakaats Eid prayer, Imam Dahiru Hussaini of JIBWIS central Mosque, Lokoja admonished the President to task every religious leader irrespective of creed to embark on a three months fervent prayer seeking the intervention of Allah in the country.
According to Imam Dahiru, the Ramadan fast has taught the faithful to be patient as with every difficulty comes ease and appealed to Muslims to avoid committing sins so as to gain paradise in the hereafter.
The Chief Imam enjoined the people to remain righteous after the Ramadan fast as he advised parents to give proper moral upbringing to their children.
Imam Dahiru therefore urged the congregation to spread good deeds and discourage all forms of transgressions including cheating and backbiting, adultery, fornication, selfishness as well as deprivation of rights of the masses so as to avoid further calamity in the country.
