As dry season had set in, Nigerians have been urged to take preventive measures that will guide against eye blindness.
An optometrist with Vision passport network services, Dr Neche Onyeachu made the appeal in an exclusive interview with Correspondent Lanre Omotoso in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local government of Kwara State.
Dr Onyeachu said because of dryness of the season, eyes attract particles that contain virus and bacteria, hence the need to always wear protective glasses.
The eye specialist said hands are the first contact with eyes incase of emergence, called for regular hand washing.
Dr Onyeachu however cautioned against self medication such as breast-milk and urine to treat eye infections, advised anyone who noticed any changes in their eyes to visit eye specialist.
While noting that eye is one of the body tissues that cannot be replaced, the optometrist emphasized that if preventive measures were taken, it would reduce frequent visit to hospital.
