Federal Government is committed to youth welfare: Lai Muhammed

Federal Government says it remained committed to improving the welfare of Nigerian youths through various policies and programs.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed who made this known during a town hall meeting held in Ilorin said that the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration has been addressing concerns of youth prior to the ENDSARS protests.

According to Alhaji Lai Muhammed, the sum of seventy five billion naira has been set aside for the empowerment of youth across the country.

He said that other packages put in place by the Federal Government include Payroll support for five hundred thousand Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise owners, One off grant of thirty thousand for three hundred and thirty thousand artisans known as Artisans Fund and setting up of public works for one thousand youth in all the local government nationwide.

Alhaji Lai Muhammed explained that all the five points demand of ENDSARS protesters have been meet by the Federal Government including disbanding of SARS and setting up of SWAT.

The minister appealed for patience and understanding from Nigerian youth stressing that Federal Government would not rest on it oars of meeting their needs.

Present at the town hall meeting were Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Chairperson, Federal Character Commission, Hajia Farida Dankaka, traditional rulers led by Emir of Ilorin Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, APC Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Bolarinwa, heads of security agencies, professional bodies, artisans among others.

There was question and answer session by various stakeholders where most of them appealed to government at state and federal levels to endeavour to make life easy for the masses through provision of infrastructure, access to credit facilities, payment of gratuity including security of lives and property.
