Female students of secondary schools, writing the on-going NECO Examinations in Kano have been advised to venture into medical and other professional courses in tertiary institutions
The advice was given by the Commissioner of Education, Malam Muhammad Sanusi Sa’id Kiru while going round some secondary schools in the state to monitor the conduct of the on-going NECO Examinations.
He said that there is an urgent need by the students to cast their minds on medical and other relevant professional courses so that the widening gab between male and their female counterparts in those professions will be minimized.
The commisioner noted that the women folk have vital.roles to play in the health sector but their population is very minimal in the sector.
Thefore, there is a need for secondary school exiting female students to broaden thier scope of thinking by seeking admission into tertiary institutions to pursue medical courses, he streeaed
” You can only achieve that if you work extra hard and pass your examinations with good result which must include Mathematics and English language as basic admission requirements in to any tertiary institutions.” He explained.
The commisioner then commended the management of the schools he visited during the monitoring exercise for ensuring the observance of Covid-19 protocols.
The schools visited are Kano Kapital School( Boys section) and Government Girls Senior Secondary School Magwan.
In thier separate remarks, the principals of the two Schools have expressed appreciation to the commissioner for his steadfastness in the development of the state education sector.
In a related development, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Hajiya Lauratu Ado Diso has also monitored the examination at GSS Tarauni and GGSS Giginyu where she commended both the managements and students of the schools for their orderliness, and adherence to the covid-19 protocols.
