Twenty-four hour curfew has been imposed on Nyuwar, Jessu and Yolde communities in the Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe state with immediate effect.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who made the announcement, said the decision followed the violence that erupted in the communities.
This was contained in a statement issued by Director-General ( Press Affairs) Gombe Government House Ismaila Uba Misilli on Tuesday.
He said the curfew becomes necessary to douse the tension and restore peace and order in the affected areas.
The statement explains that security personnel have been deployed to restore normalcy while the curfew will hold until further notice.
