The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu says the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has improved greatly in the conduct of the ongoing Governorship and State House of Assembly Elections.
Rt. Hon. Danladi-Salihu who stated this forthwith after casting his ballot noted that, unlike the last Presidential and National Assembly elections, “the electoral umpire has had a great improvement in its conduct of the exercise”
“So far, the INEC has been performing wonderfully well when you compare this exercise with the Presidential and National Assembly Elections, today the electoral officers and materials arrived early at the various polling units, the BVAS worked smoothly and people’s turnout was on the high gear, it’s a great improvement on the part of the INEC, kudos to them”
The Speaker also expressed confidence that His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and all the APC candidates would emerge victorious at the end of the day, stressing that the Governor and the party have done so well to be given glad eye for a second chance.
“With the outstanding performance of the AbdulRazaq-led administration in the state especially in the areas of infrastructural development in the last four years, I’m very confident that the Governor is coasting to victory for a second term in office and all the APC candidates would also win because the party has also gotten it right politically.”
Meanwhile, results have been trooping in from the ongoing elections, in Gwanara ward which has twenty polling units, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of the APC polled a total 3,423 votes to defeat his rival, Alhaji Abdullah Yaman of the PDP who got 251. Also in the same ward, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu of the APC polled 3,423 to beat Abubakar Títí-Camara of the PDP who had 242 votes.
In the Kpura Yakira ward which has fourteen polling units, Governor AbdulRazaq of the APC garnered a total of 3,406 votes to defeat PDP Alhaji Abdullah Yaman who got 139 votes and in the same ward, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu of the APC scored 3,428 votes to beat PDP Abubakar Títí-Camara who got 134 votes according to the result sheets obtained from INEC collation officers.
Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu is seeking re-election to represent Ilesha Gwanara constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly for a second term in office.
