Kwara State House of Assembly has called on residents of the state to inculcate healthy lifestyles to protect them against Hepatitis B infection.

This was sequel to a Motion on Notice titled” Need to for Massive Awareness and Sensitization Campaign on Hepatitis B in Kwara State” during plenary.

Reading the resolutions, the Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danladi-Salihu urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to direct the State Ministry of Health to make available Hepatitis B vaccines in large quantities in all government medical facilities across the state.

Engineer Danladi-Salihu admonished members of the public to guard against ways of life that are capable of threatening their health.

Earlier, the member representing Ilorin Central Constituency, Abubakar Olawoyin said said Hepatitis B could be contracted through unacceptable sexual behaviours and sharing of objects such as razor blades, syringes and others.

Other lawmakers in their contributions described Hepatitis B as more deadly than HIV AIDS hence the need for people to cultivate the habit of regular medical check-Up.
