The National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU),Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman, fsi,has urged parties to the recent controversy surrounding the wearing of Hijab in some secondary schools in Ilorin to allow peace to prevail by conforming themselves with the decision of the Kwara State Government.

Alhaji Uthman stated this in a statement signed on his behalf by the Union’s National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Imam, while reacting to the recently announced position of the Kwara State Government on the issue

While commending the Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi’s Committee on the matter for coming up with a balanced and fair report, which facilitated the decision allowing the continuous wearing of Hijab by interested female Muslim students in schools, the Union applauded what it called “the glittering maturity and alluring leadership style” of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, which always emphasises peace building.

The IEDPU said that the people of Ilorin Emirate are completely at home with the eventual government’s decision, which effectively laid the needless controversy to rest, saying that it was in no way at variance with natural justice and the judgement of the Court of Appeal.

Alhaji Uthman appealed to the entire people of the state, most especially the residents of Ilorin, to always live in peace and harmony and never do anything that would threaten the tranquility of the State,a condition, which,he said, is needed to advance the progress and development of every human society.
