Ita-Elepa fire outbreak: Residents advised to get safety equipment in their homes

Kwara State Fire Service has advised residents in the state to be safety conscious and procure every necessary safety equipment to their various homes to prevent emergency cases of fire incident during this harmattan period.

The Director of the State Fire Service, Alhaji Yakub Waheed gave the advice in a statement made available to newsmen in Ilorin by the Head of Media and Publicity of the Service, Mr. Hassan Adekunle after a rescue operation at Ita-Elepa Area of Ilorin where a story building was engulfed with fire.

The State Fire Service boss explained that the incident occurred around 12:50 hours of yesterday when a passer-by suddenly summoned the brigade to the scene through an exchange telephone call and the officers were able to eliminate the fire on time due to technicality applied.


He noted that the cause of the incident was as a result of electricity spark from the wiring of the building.

Mr Waheed therefore urged the general public to always switch off their electricity appliances when not in use.
