Kano, Bichi Emirs’ Mother : Ganduje, FG Delegation, Sultan, Emirs Receive Body At Makia

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state, with the federal government delegation under the chairmanship of the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari with Ministers of Defence, Justice, Aviation, and Water Resources, Sultan of Sokoto, who was represented by Wazirin Sokoto, Emirs of Hadejia, Ningi, Kazaure, Abaji, Matawallen Borno among many Emirs and esteemed dignitaries, received the remains of the mother of Emirs of Kano and Bichi, at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), from Egypt via Abuja, few minutes to 6pm for burial, Monday.

Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Ado Bayero with other family members, escorted the body of the late mother to Kano. Thousands of sympathisers were at the Airport to also witness the arrival of the late mother. As many roads were blocked with multitudes of other sympathisers from the Airport down to the Emir’s palace.

Before going to the airport, the federal government delegation was at the Kano Emir’s Palace alongside governor Ganduje and all other Emirs, to extend the condolences of the federal government to the Emirates, government and people of Kano state.

At the Palace, Prof Gambari appreciated the entire lifetime of the late mother, Hajiya Maryam Ado Bayero, (Mai Babban Daki), acknowledging that, “Her royal blood extended to many generations from both sides of her parents. And Alhamdulillah she was the mother of the two Emirs of Kano and Bichi Emirates.”

After his brief remarks, he handed over the microphone to the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, who prayed for the reposed soul of the deceased mother.

In his response Kano Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, while commending the federal and state governments for the show of concern and respect to them, he described the late mother “As a mother for all. We never saw her as only our mother, she was a mother to all. And that was what she exhibited when she was alive.”

“On behalf of Kano and Bichi Emirates, other Emirates in the state, government and people of Kano state, we are very grateful for this all-important condolence visit,” he appreciated.

He commended the state government for all the support rendered to the Palace since the emergence of the Emir to the throne to date. Particularly what the state government did during the medical treatment of the deceased.

The largest convoy proceeded immediately to Kano palace where the Chief Imam of Kano, Emeritus Professor Muhammad Sani Zahraddeen, led people for the funeral prayer and prayed for the deceased mother, few minutes to 7pm.

Other funeral practices followed in accordance with Islamic rites.
