KNSG Sets To Vaccinate 2Million Children Against Measles

The Kano State Government says over two million children under the age of 5 will be vaccinated against measles disease in the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.

The Commissioner for Health Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa stated this while briefing Journalists on the commencement of the vaccination against measles in Kano state.

The Commissioner explained that the sum of over 226 million naira would be expended in the forthcoming measles vaccination campaign across the state.

Dr. Tsanyawa noted that the measles vaccination campaign is targeting 2,830,000 children under the age of 5, stressing that the campaign would cut across the 484 wards of 44 Local Government Areas.

He further stated that the disease is usually spread among unvaccinated children through coughing, sneezing, and body contact with infected persons which bring about complications including death.

He maintained that the state Government would not relent in according the needed support to the Health Sector geared towards achieving the stated goals.

Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa applauded the support of development partners in the health sector, adding that the gesture was yielding positive results in uplifting the health status of the General populace.
