KWARA: 2024 Budget Passes Through Second Reading

The Kwara State 2024 Appropriation Bill was read for the second time today on the floor of the Kwara state house of Assembly.

While leading the debate on the general principles of the Appropriation Bill, the house leader Hon. Magaji Oba Abdulkadir said the next year Appropriation Bill will help the Kwara state Government to finish some of the ongoing projects which will positively impact lives of people in the state.

He observed that the budget will boost the economy of the state as he urged his colleagues to pass the bill as submitted by the Governor.

Other lawmakers while speaking on the bill during plenary appreciates the governor for prioritizing the welfare of the people despite the economic hardship.

While describing the budget estimate as people centered, the lawmakers opined that the budget estimate will promote economic development, promote Human Capital Development and reduction of Poverty in the state.

The Chairmen of the various House Committees also applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for according top priority to virtually all the sectors which they observed would consolidate on the successes recorded during the first tenure.

The deliberation on the general principles of the 2024 Kwara state Appropriation Bill continues tomorrow on floor of the Kwara state house of Assembly.

In another development, the Kwara State Road Fund and Administration bill, 2023 today passed through second reading in the State House of Assembly.

Leading the debate on general principles of the bill, leader of the house Hon. Mogaji Oba Abdulkadir said the bill will help in maintaining and rehabilitating rural roads in the state.

He urged his colleagues to support the accelerated passage of the bill into law.

Other lawmakers who spoke on the bill voiced their support for the bill which they said will enhance development in the rural areas.

They commended the Kwara state Governor Malam Abdulralman Abdulrasaq for initiating the executive bill which will provide funds for the rehabilitation, reconstruction and maintenance of class C and class D roads in the state.

The Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danladi Salihu p referred the bill to the House Committee on works and Transport for further legislative business and report to the house as soon as possible.
