Kwara: ANCOPSS Tasks Stakeholders To Support Government’s Effort On Education

Management and staff of secondary schools in Kwara State have been enjoined to support government efforts on education with a view to restoring the lost glory of the sector.

President, All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, Comrade Abdullahi Umar made the call at the State Executive Council Meeting of the Confederation held at Oro Grammar School, Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The ANCOPSS President, Comrade Abdullahi Umar, who acknowledged the effort of Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq’s administration on repositioning education sector in the state, charged Principals on commitment and dedication to duty.

He called on members of the ANCOPSS to have a change of attitude towards examination activities, stressing the need for them to always work together for success and progress.

The ANCOPSS President also enjoined traditional and religious leaders as well as parents and other stakeholders to support Principals in impacting sound moral and quality education on the children who he described as leaders of tomorrow.

In an address, Chairman, Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM, Alhaji Abubakar Taoheed Bello tasked the Principals to ensure proper monitoring of their teachers and also take the issue of clearance for salary and swapping policy seriously.

On the reduction of working days for civil servants in the state, Alhaji Taoheed Bello explained that teachers were exempted from the palliative but expressed hope that Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq would come up with better measures for the teachers to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

Earlier in a speech, the Oro Zone ANCOPSS host Principal, Mrs Adeleke Janet encouraged principals to be law abiding, love one another and shun all forms of rancor for them to be able to discharge their duties diligently.

The ANCOPSS State Executive Council Meeting which featured goodwill messages from representatives of NUT, AOPSHON and the veterans, was attended by stakeholders in education sector including delegation of Oloro of Oro led by the Shawo of Oro Kingdom, Chief Raphael Babatunde Oyeniyi.
