38-Year Old Danladi Re-elected as Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly

Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu has been re-elected as the Speaker of the Kwara State House 10th Assembly.

This was sequel to a motion for his nomination moved by Hon. Halidu Danbaba (Kaiama/Wajibe) and seconded by Hon. Arionla Lawal (Ilorin East) during today’s inauguration plenary.

The 38 years old Danladi-Salihu was the Speaker of the 9th Assembly and was unanimously reelected to lead the House for a second term.

Similarly, Hon. Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode of Odo-Ogun Constituency was elected as the Deputy Speaker and sworn in afterwards.

 

The Clerk of the House, Hajia Halimah Jummai Kperogi thereafter sworn in Deputy Speaker and Speaker respectively after the duo accepted their nominations.

The inauguration of the 10th Legislature, Kwara State House of Assembly was witnessed by stakeholders and the members of the public including former speakers of the Kwara State House of Assembly; Rt. Honourable Isa Bio Ibrahim, Rt. Hon. Babatunde Mohammed, Kwara APC Chairman Prince Sunday Fagbemi, members of the 9th Legislature among others.

Speaker: Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu

Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu was born on 31st May, 1985 into the family of the late sage and renowned educationist; Alhaji Aliyu Salihu Gwanara in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State.

He attended Baruten Local Government Education Authority Primary School, Gwanara between 1988-1993, before proceeding to Baptist Grammar School,Okuta in Baruten Local Government Area and later,to the famous St. Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin where he obtained his O’level certificate in 2001. He also later attended the Kaduna State Polytechnic for National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) between 2003-2008, both in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering,(Elect-Elect).

Rt.Hon. Danladi obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in the same field of Elect-Elect from the Federal University of Technology,Minna in the year 2016.Upon the completion of the Degree programme, the young Engineer did his National Youth Service Scheme, NYSC at the National Water Resources Institute, Kaduna.

The newly elected Speaker of the 10th Legislature began his foray into politics via student activism where he amassed leadership experience and skills when he served as the Secretary,National Union of Baruten Students,Kaduna State Polytechnic Chapter for the 2005/2006 session. He was also the Secretary of the famous National Association of Kwara State Students,NAKSS of the same institution for the 2007/2008 session.

In the year 2011, he served as the Kwara North Coordinator of the Buhari Campaign Organisation,BCO when President Muhammad Buhari contested the presidential election under the platform of the Congress of Progressive State University,KWASU Business School as his result is currently awaiting
approval of the University’s Senate.

These and other salient achievements that are too numerous to mention are some of the reasons why Rt. Hon. Danladi Salihu stands tall among his peers and that also explains why he has earned the trust to represent the good people of Ilesha Gwanara State Constituency for a second term in office.

 

Deputy Speaker: Rt. Hon. Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode

Hon.Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode was born on 4th April, 1975 at Aworo compound, Ipee in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State. He attended Baptist LGEA School, Ipee for his Primary education between 1984 and 1989 and Jamaat Nasir | Islam secondarty school, Owu Isin for his Secondary education.He later attended the Federal polytechnic, Offa for his Ordinary Diploma (OND) in accountancy in 2005.

The Deputy Speaker is a grassroots politician who has served his community, his town and local government in various capacities. He was elected into the position of Councilor for Ipee ward in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State in 2007 and he performed excellently well.

In addition, Hon. Ojo is a ranking member in this 10th Assembly having served as a member of the immediate past 9th Assembly. In this House, he also served meritoriously and represented his constituency well.
