Kwara State House of Assembly has advocated establishment of a Fire Service Station at Jebba, Moro Local Government Area and other rural settings to respond to unforeseen fire outbreak.
This was considered by the House, following a Matter of General Public Importance, raised by lawmaker representing Lanwa-Ejidongari Constituency, Mrs Madinah Abdulrahman during today’s sitting.
Mrs Abdulrahman intimated the House on the serial infarno in Jebba as the last fire incident burnt five persons to death while scores injured and frowned over socio-economic effect of the incident while affected business owners are still counting their loses.
Some lawmakers in their contributions, sympathized with the people of Jebba over the fire incidents in the area and canvassed the need to strategically set up functional Fire Service Station to respond to emergencies when the need arises.
Reading the resolutions of the House, Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danlad-Salihu urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to direct Ministry of Communication to intensify campaign against construct of buildings under high tension to halt fire disaster.
