Kwara Gov. Charges Religious Groups on COVID-19 Protocols, As GM Harmony FM Bags Award

Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulraman Abdulrazaq has enjoined religious organisations to ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 preventive measures to curb spread of the virus.

The Governor made the call today at the investiture award organized by National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations, NACOMYO and Excerpts of her Re-union Activities held at the IMAN Centre, Ilorin.

Governor AbdulRazaq, represented by his Special Assistant on Religion, Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Danmaigoro, advised religious leaders to enforce COVID-19 safety guidelines in their gatherings with a view to flattening the curve of the disease.

In a lecture, the Grand Mukadam of Ilorin, Sheikh Sulaiman Danborno charged Muslims to desist from all evil acts for them to earn the mercy of Allah at all times.

Sheikh Danborno called on Nigerians to always extend the hands of kindness to the needy, charging those in position of authority to be alive to their duties to better the lives of the masses.

Earlier, in an address, the Kwara State Coordinator of NACOMYO, Alhaji Hussain Gobir descried the award as unique being the first award ceremony solely championed by the council.

While congratulating the awardees whom he said were selected based on their contributions to the development of education and Islamic activities in the state, Alhaji Hussein Gobir expressed hope that the award would spur them to contribute more to the development of Islam.

Responding on behalf of the Nineteen awardees, the General Manager, Radio Nigeria – Harmony FM, Idofian, Alhaji AbdulMualiyy Olanrewaju Adegboyega expressed appreciation to NACOMYO for the award saying that it would ginger them to contribute more in the propagation of Islam and service to humanity.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, the 1996-1999 State Coordinator of the council, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim noted that NACOMYO is established to foster unity, protect the interest of Muslim Youth Organisations and promote Islamic propagation in the country.
