The need for more efforts and interventions to enable Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises thrive as again been re-enphasised.
Wife of the Kwara state Governor Dr.Olufolake Abdulrazaq stated this while speaking through Zoom during a Fiancial Literacy Workshop for Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprise business owners in Ilorin.
Dr.Olufolake said SMEs play a major role in the economy of every nation as they account for small businesses to thrive and as the pandemic persists, small scale businesses are
struggling to survive due to the decline in the production volumes and harsh market conditions.
She said the world is struggling to fight off the COVID-19 pandemic, however, businesses are witnessing unprecedented slowdowns and shutdowns; this no doubt is affecting the stability of small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs).
The Kwara state governors wife said there are government policies set in place to protect SMEs, but there is equally a need for more efforts and interventions to enable
these small businesses thrive.
Dr.Olufolake said, SMEs should be more proactive in adapting to this new situation, hence, the resolve of her office and the Ajike people Support Center to support small business owners in the state through equipping them with requisite knowledge and opening them to trends that will enable them grow their businesses.
Dr. Olufolake enjoined the company to do a follow up exercise of the workshop while looking forward to continuing a robust partnership in educating entrepreneurs in the state on the need for insurance in their
businesses and urged them to come up with products that will be affordable for this class of businesses,she urged the participants to maximize the opportunities.
