Last Friday, Nigerian Media was awashed with the story of unspecified number of students Kidnapped at Government Science School, Kankara, Katsina State.

The timing of the incident is bizarre as it coincide with the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to his hometown Daura, Katsina state,.

333 students were reported missing and
many parents and the people of Kankara in Katsina state, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, last Friday were put into confusion and commotion as gunmen attacked the Kankara Government Science Secondary School, moving away a yet to be confirmed number of students.

Parents were rendered confused and have since stormed the school, in search for their children.

The disaster was not different from what happened in Chibok, on the night of 14th April 2014, when about 300 female students were kidnapped from a Secondary School in the town of Chibok in Borno state. Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the attack, leaving parents of the victims psychologically traumatized.

Like Chibok, where 57 of the schoolgirls escaped in the months following the incident, while others were rescued by the military forces later, the police said they have rescued 200 out of the hundreds of the students kidnapped from Kankara on Friday night. For any parent, nothing can be more challenging to the emotion than this.

Meanwhile, Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari has confirmed that three hundred and thirty-three students are missing following an attack on Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina on Friday night.

The governor gave the figure when he received a Federal Government delegation led by the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno on Sunday.

The governor who explained that the school has a population of 839 students said so far, those kidnapped cut across the state with the boarding school housing all children from all parts of the state and outside the state.
